Diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS on Apr 6, 2018. Unable to speak within several months. One of the first in Canada to receive Radicava (edaravone) IV therapy starting in July, 2018 in addition to riluzole. Both are scheduled into the future at this time. In Jan, 2019, inability to swallow, even pureed foods, necessitated a G-tube placement and tube feeding. Going well. Using a Drive rollator to stay mobile. Upper body weak, but functional. Use  a ventilator, cough assist and suction device as well as the Apple family of devices and apps for communication, writing and reading. Never been sick in my life until this life-altering condtion. Making the most of everyday, on a foundation of faith that promises a new future. April 2, 2019.
