Since being diagnosed on September 8th I am pleased to say that I received 100% disability rating on September 23. Things have been moving really fast. I had my first VA appointment yesterday to get referred to the neurologist and ultimately be seen by their ALS clinic.

We are ready to start the fight. I have a follow up with Dr. Heitzman next week where I hope to learn more about clinical trials. I also need to work on getting my diagnosis connected to my service through the VA.

I’m a ALS newby and have not had any conversations with my neurologist about the correlation to service. I’m curious what data the VA has collected if it shows anything relevant based on MOS, duty station, etc.

In full transparency I have not technically been diagnosed with ALS. I’m currently going through IVIG infusion treatments in hopes that my symptoms are related to CIDP.

I don’t think my symptoms align with CIDP and I believe my neurologist knows it but he ethically cannot say that without going through all the steps.
